I have chosen to do European trade as my topic because I was born Germany, which is, of course, in Europe. I moved here when i was fairly young and never got to learn about the continent from where I was born. Now being in this class I have a chance to learn a about a part of Europe's past. Another reason why I am doing my wiki on European trade is because I have never having liked the system of paper currency or anything currency related I would like know what Europeans traded to get items they needed for survival in the past. In this wiki i will writing about ancient European trade leading up to modern European trade. The major points that I will be covering are the trade routes used to import and export commodities and what commodities were being traded.

The Importance Of Trade

Trading has always been an important factor in expansion of cities into states. Therefore to conclude with the introduction page I will elaborate a little bit on how trade was important in every city, state, and continent of the world. Trade affects everything we buy at some stage, and influences many aspects of our daily lives. Whether this influence is good or bad depends on how you look at things. Trade can be a powerful force for positive developments, but it can also bring problems and uncertainties. It may not be the most important factor determining the prosperity of countries and people, but prosperity has rarely if ever been achieved or sustained without it. Trade must therefore be an important component in any overall economic strategy that aims to generate sustained growth and prosperity (http://www.oecd.org/document/31/0,3343,en_21571361_37705603_42760863_1_1_1_1,00.html)
